The Little Church of the West Wedding Chapel on Las Vegas Boulevard in Paradise just outside the city limits of Las Vegas easily passed northbound traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard with the towering edifices of the Las Vegas ‘Strip’ just past the famous welcome to Las Vegas sign. When it opened in 1942, the Little Church of the West Wedding Chapel was an integral part of the Last Frontier Resort, the first such facility designed specifically just for the purpose of serving as wedding chapel. The brainchild of William J. Moore to garner a stake in what was becoming a lucrative growing wedding chapel movement. Modeled after an old west mining town church with a cedar exterior and interior made of California Redwood. The Last Frontier Resort long gone in annuls of history, the only vestige that remains the wedding chapel, though it has moved 2 prior to ending up here basically greeting one to the strip. Amongst the famous who wed there are Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Approaching almost 80 years, a wonderful throwback to another era.
