Khnum – God of Water (and Money in Las Vegas)

\"Khnum

Just outside of the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas you can find several cool statues of these rams. I’m not sure if they are actually meant to be Khnum or if they were just meant to look cool and authentic. According to Egyptian religions, Khnum was depicted as a ram. He was the Egyptian water god and the potter god of creation.

It was believed that he created the first children on his potter’s wheel with clay from the banks of the Nile. Khnum also protected the sun (in the form of the god Ra) on its daily journey through the underworld. In Las Vegas they are just meant to look cool and stand guard outside of the main entrance.
