Pahrump, Nev. – Tension gripped Sheri’s Ranch brothel on a Saturday afternoon when a 71-year-old resident unleashed shotgun fire at the property’s gate and entrance.[1][2]

The Sudden Outburst at Sheri’s Ranch

Deputies received a call around 4:30 p.m. on February 28 reporting an elderly man carrying a shotgun on the premises. The individual, dressed in a gray shirt and white flip-flops, first targeted the north gate. Witnesses noted he appeared intent on blasting the lock mechanism.[1]

After the initial shots, the man returned to his white Dodge Charger, which featured tinted windows and a temporary license plate. He retrieved additional ammunition from the trunk before approaching the bar entrance on the building’s west side. There, he discharged another round directly into the front door. Staff inside promptly locked the doors and ushered patrons away from the exposed area.

Deputies Neutralize the Threat

Responding officers arrived swiftly to the far south end of Homestead Road, where Sheri’s Ranch operates near the California border. One deputy spotted the suspect still gripping a black shotgun as he moved toward the front of the building. A second officer joined, and they issued clear commands to drop the weapon and lie on the ground.

The man complied without resistance. Additional authorities secured the scene, and detectives later recovered the Weatherby semiautomatic SA-08 shotgun along with multiple shell casings. No one suffered injuries during the episode, a fact that underscored the effectiveness of the rapid response.[1]

Charges Stem from Multiple Discharges

Patrick Graham, the 71-year-old Pahrump resident, now confronts serious accusations. Prosecutors filed one count of assault with a deadly weapon against him. Authorities also charged him with one count of discharging a firearm in a prohibited area.

Three additional counts arose from firing in locations where individuals could have been endangered. Graham faced arrest on suspicion of breaching a temporary protective order, compounded by his status on an own-recognizance release. Bail amounted to $31,000, but a no-bail hold applied due to the violation. As of Tuesday, he remained at the Nye County Detention Center.[1]

Sheriff Details the Contained Incident

Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill provided clarity on the sequence. “It appeared that he was trying to shoot the lock off a gate and later fired a shot into the front door of the business,” he stated. The sheriff emphasized the brothel’s protective measures, which kept everyone safe.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement shortly after the event. Deputies took the subject into custody with no injuries reported, and officials assured the public of no ongoing threat. Graham requested evaluation at Desert View Hospital before refusing further treatment and proceeding to booking.

Key Takeaways
