This spring the Academy Museum will take film followers contained in the thoughts of “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho and the world creation of Greta Gerwig’s candy-colored “Barbie.” New exhibitions for Spring 2025 embrace deep dives into Bong Joon Ho’s inspirations and the imaginative and prescient of the manufacturing designer workforce behind “Barbie,” “Anna Karenina” and “Beauty and the Beast,” the group introduced Thursday.
The Bong Joon Ho exhibit, opening March 22 on the Los Angeles-based museum, will spotlight over 100 unique gadgets from his private assortment, together with story boards, posters, creature fashions and props, that assist paint a portrait of the Korean filmmaker from his early days in brief movies via his Oscar-winning triumph. He will probably be current for a screening sequence opening weekend. The museum beforehand highlighted the work of Agnès Varda in its “Director’s Inspirations” sequence.
The opposite main exhibit, opening Might 23, will showcase the work of Oscar-nominated manufacturing designers Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer, delving into how they develop a visible idea for a movie. The galleries will give attendees an immersive expertise with props, manufacturing supplies and a re-creation of their studio house on “Barbie.”
“These exhibitions will showcase the incredible diversity of voices, stories, and cultures that have shaped the movie industry and the global film community,” Academy Museum director Amy Homma mentioned in a press release. “I am so excited for the public to celebrate and explore the imaginations and brilliance of Bong Joon Ho, Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer.”
