Downtown Las Vegas

My first real trip to Vegas was in 1994, and we stayed at the Las Vegas Club. Fremont Street was not "domed" off yet. Vegas Vic still said "Howdy, folks, and welcome to downtown Las Vegas," even at 3:00 AM as you tried to sleep in your room that overlooked Fremont.

The Vegas Club was a great, cheesy sports memorabilia themed joint that was deteriorating rapidly when I took this in 2009 on my old Sony Cybershot that no longer powers on. I’ll miss the $1.00 late night blackjack. It’s closed and sad now, on a prime corner in downtown Las Vegas. I worry a bit about what will replace it.
