Seattle – The Connecticut Sun arrive here Wednesday night carrying a five-game losing streak into a matchup against the Seattle Storm. Both clubs opened the season with uneven results, leaving the Sun at 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the Eastern Conference while the Storm sit at 1-3 and 0-1 in the West. The contest tips off at 10 p.m. EDT and offers the Sun a chance to record their first victory of the year on the road.

Records Reflect Early-Season Struggles

The Sun finished last season with an 11-33 record and went just 4-18 away from home. They surrendered an average of 86.0 points per game while committing 19.6 fouls, numbers that highlighted defensive and discipline issues that carried into the current campaign.

Seattle posted a 23-21 mark overall last year and went 10-12 at home. Opponents averaged 80.1 points against the Storm and shot 44.3 percent from the field, figures that suggest the team has shown some ability to limit scoring when playing in front of its own fans.

Injuries Shape Available Lineups

Several key players will miss the game for both sides. The Storm are without Awa Fam for non-injury reasons, Katie Lou Samuelson due to a knee issue, and Ezi Magbegor because of a foot injury. Connecticut will be without Leila Lacan, who is also sidelined for reasons unrelated to injury.

These absences leave both rosters thinner than planned and could force coaches to adjust rotations and playing time early in the contest. The Storm in particular must manage depth at forward and guard positions while trying to protect home court.

Why the Outcome Matters Now

A win for Connecticut would end the skid and provide momentum heading into the rest of the Eastern Conference schedule. For Seattle, a victory would improve its home record and help stabilize a start that has included more losses than wins so far.

The game also serves as an early test of how each team responds to roster limitations and defensive lapses from the previous season. Observers will watch closely to see whether the Sun can finally convert opportunities on the road or if the Storm can maintain their home defensive identity.
