Houston – Authorities charged a local homeowner with aggravated assault after he allegedly unleashed a barrage of gunfire on a father and his 13-year-old daughter who briefly used his driveway to turn around. The incident unfolded Tuesday afternoon on Willbriar Lane in the Houston area of Fort Bend County, leaving bullets lodged in the vehicle but no physical injuries.[1][2]

Police described the confrontation as stemming from a simple maneuver on a residential street, highlighting tensions over property access in suburban neighborhoods. The family escaped unharmed, though the emotional toll promises to linger.

The Confrontation Escalates Quickly

The father and daughter had just departed from a nearby home when they pulled into the neighboring driveway to execute a U-turn. Seth Daigre, the property owner, confronted them, sparking an argument that rapidly intensified.

A relative of the victims, who witnessed events from her house, recounted how her daughter attempted to calm the situation. “My daughter tried to de-escalate the situation by saying, ‘It’s not that serious, sir,'” she told reporters. Daigre reportedly shot back, “‘Oh yes, it is.’ Next thing I know, he’s brandishing a weapon, firing.”[1]

Investigators noted Daigre fired multiple rounds at the moving vehicle, paused briefly, then resumed shooting. Neighbors reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots in total, a sound that shattered the afternoon quiet.

Evidence and Immediate Aftermath

Officers arrived to find physical proof of the gunfire: one bullet embedded in the front passenger seat where the girl had sat, and another in the rear of the car. Despite the close calls, neither the father nor the daughter sustained injuries.

Daigre admitted to discharging his weapon twice during questioning, according to police. He explained his failure to summon authorities beforehand by stating he “had a lot going on.” Texas records revealed no prior criminal history for the suspect.[2]

Key Details of the Incident

  • Location: Willbriar Lane, Houston (Fort Bend County)
  • Time: Around 2 p.m. Tuesday
  • Shots Fired: More than a dozen, per neighbors
  • Damage: Bullets in front passenger seat and vehicle rear
  • Injuries: None reported

Neighborhood Frustrations Come to Light

Daigre purchased the Willbriar Lane residence in 2016, and locals described his ongoing efforts to deter drivers from using the driveway. Residents mentioned he often positioned trash cans to block access, signaling persistent irritation with the practice.

While such measures reflect common suburban gripes, the escalation to gunfire stunned the community. The grandmother dismissed any personal hardships as justification. “I’m sorry to hear that, but I mean, you know, we might not like that it’s raining one day. What you gonna do? Curse God?” she remarked.[1]

Charges Filed as Case Proceeds

Prosecutors filed two counts of aggravated assault against Daigre, who now awaits his court date in Fort Bend County Jail. His bond stands at $80,000.

The grandmother expressed deep concern for her granddaughter’s well-being. “She’s gonna be traumatized for a long time,” she said, underscoring the incident’s lasting psychological impact despite the absence of wounds. Authorities continue to investigate, emphasizing that no threat justified the use of deadly force.
