LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Many Catholics around the globe and even right here at house are praying for Pope Francis. Many are wishing him a speedy restoration from pneumonia and kidney points after the Vatican introduced his essential situation this weekend.
Locals like Katheleen Miller mentioned these effectively needs span from everywhere in the valley.
“I know the rest of the community has been reaching out to other groups that I’m involved with at my particular parish at St. Thomas Moore and other prayer groups as we pray for the Holy Father through the weekend,” Miller mentioned. “I have a number of Christian friends that are not of the Catholic faith that have also offered their prayers and well wishes for the Holy Father.”
It is why Connie Clough, the director of Religion Formation for the Archdiocese of Las Vegas calls Pope Francis a pope for the folks and is cherished by many as a result of his social justice work and acceptance for all.
“One of the things he is always telling his bishops, and his priests is you need to be with your people and therefore you need to smell like the sheep. If you don’t smell like the sheep, then you’re not walking for your people and so I think everyone gets that message, even people who are non-Catholic or nonreligious,” Clough defined.
Gregory Gordon Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Las Vegas mentioned Pope Francis has a big effect and his management has helped increase our metropolis to an archdiocese two years in the past.
“He elevated Las Vegas as a church with our growth and our population and he sent Archbishop Thomas to us and he called me to ordination as Auxiliary Archbishop of Las Vegas so Pope Francis has many signs of love and paternal care,” Auxiliary Bishop Gordon remarked. “That calls us all at the Archdiocese of Las Vegas to come together at mass and when we are together at mass to pray for him, to pray for his healing if that’s the Lord’s will, to pray for strength and to pray for comfort and peace.”
