Las Vegas occasion set to spotlight ladies in development

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Hammers and Hope occasion in North Las Vegas is ready to spotlight the rising position of ladies in a traditionally male-dominated business.

“Right now, women make up 14% of the construction industry workforce,” Heather Cassel, senior workers accountant for Nigro Development, stated.

Cassel is among the many ladies at Nitro Development contributing to tasks that convey communities collectively. She started her development profession at 17, proper after highschool.

“I’ve worked in civil contracting. I’ve worked in HVAC. I‘ve worked in steel, a bunch of different trades,” Cassel stated.

Mission engineer Caitlin Johnson defined that there are a lot of parts concerned in developing a constructing.

“You’ve got the project engineer’s side. You’ve got the contract side. You’ve got the marketing side. You’ve got the accounting side,” Johnson stated.

Whereas development is commonly seen as a field-based business, it affords a variety of profession paths for ladies past job websites. From finance and engineering to operations and enterprise growth, the business gives alternatives to construct significant careers whereas shaping a greater future.

“What I love about construction is building something new, creating something new,” Cassel stated. “It’s amazing to drive around town and see the progress in real-time and know that it benefits the community.”

In honor of Nationwide Ladies in Development Week, the Nevada State Contractors Board is internet hosting its annual “Hammers & Hope” occasion on Thursday, March 6, on the Cheyenne CSN Campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
