Las Vegas – A Virginia woman triggered a chaotic scene at Harry Reid International Airport when she left her dog tied to a baggage scale and hurried toward her gate.[1][2]

Denied Boarding Sparks Desperate Move

On February 2, 2026, around 11:30 p.m., Germiran Denae-Nicole Bryson, 26, arrived late at the JetBlue ticket counter with her 2-year-old goldendoodle.[1] She sought to board a flight by presenting the dog as a service animal, but airline staff denied her a boarding pass. Bryson had failed to submit the required online documentation beforehand.[3]

Frustrated, she tied the dog’s leash to a metal carry-on baggage sizer and declared to a JetBlue employee, “Call animal control. I’m not going to miss my flight.”[1] With that, Bryson walked away toward the security checkpoint, leaving the confused pet behind. The employee promptly alerted authorities.[2]

Airport surveillance captured the moment, showing Bryson departing while the goldendoodle remained secured at the counter.[2]

Confrontation Escalates at the Gate

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department located Bryson at Gate D1. She received another denial to board, this time because of the abandoned animal.[1] Bryson explained to police that the airline refused to let her fly with the dog. She added that the pet carried a tracking device and would find its way back to her.[3]

Tensions rose as officers attempted to issue a citation. Bryson provided a false last name, Hobbs, and grew disruptive. She refused directions to the airport police substation and walked in the opposite direction from Officer Lloyd.[1]

The situation intensified when she threw her items to the ground and yelled, “Don’t touch me!” Officers grabbed her arm to stop her flight, handcuffed her, and carried her after she dropped her body weight.[2][1] Police booked her that night.

Facing Multiple Misdemeanor Charges

Bryson faced initial booking on animal abandonment, providing false information to a public officer, and resisting a public officer.[1] Prosecutors later rejected the abandonment charge in favor of animal abuse. She also contends with the other two counts.[4]

  • Animal abuse (replaced abandonment)
  • Resisting a public officer
  • Providing false information or obstructing a public officer

Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 31. Records indicate she was released on her own recognizance following the arrest.[4]

Jet Blue Finds a Loving Forever Home

Bryson never returned for the dog during the mandatory 10-day legal hold period, which ended February 13.[4] Clark County Animal Protection Services took custody, and the goldendoodle received the name Jet Blue in honor of the airline counter where the ordeal began.

Last weekend, Officer Skeeter Black, one of the responding Metro officers, adopted the dog. His family had waited since September 2025 through Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas for a goldendoodle exactly like Jet Blue. The placement marked a perfect match after the pup’s frightening experience.[1]

Key Takeaways

  • Airlines require advance online forms for service dogs; failure leads to denial.
  • Nevada treats pets as property, allowing reclaim during hold periods in abandonment cases.
  • Rescues like Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas provide swift support for abandoned animals.

This incident underscores the strict rules for traveling with service animals and the swift response from airport staff and law enforcement. Jet Blue’s journey from abandonment to adoption offers a hopeful note amid the charges. What do you think about the outcome for the dog? Tell us in the comments.
