Nevada Gov. Lombardo unveils $1 billion inexpensive housing plan: 'We’ve got to broaden'

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Republican Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo launched laws Monday aimed toward constructing inexpensive housing throughout the state, he instructed 8 Information Now.

The proposal marks the governor’s first legislative proposal this legislative session.

The Nevada Housing Entry and Attainability Act would create a housing fund to help within the growth of $1 billion in inexpensive housing, the governor mentioned. About $250 million would go towards rental and downpayment help by way of grants, loans and rebates.

“We are by no means in a situation where we have to restrict growth versus expand upon growth,” Lombardo mentioned. “And for us to be successful as a community and an economy, we have to expand.”

The proposal would additionally broaden inexpensive housing eligibility for Nevada households making as much as 150% of the realm median earnings, the governor’s workplace mentioned.
