Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves at a pivotal moment with defensive standout Maxx Crosby, as multiple teams intensify their pursuit ahead of free agency.[1][2]

Multiple Strong Bids Signal Heightened Interest

League insiders report that the Raiders hold several compelling trade proposals for the five-time Pro Bowl edge rusher. Discussions have accelerated recently, with teams elevating their bids to include two first-round draft picks.[1] The Dallas Cowboys believed they neared a deal last night, only for competitors to counter with richer packages.[1]

General manager John Spytek confirmed the team’s willingness to evaluate options during the NFL Scouting Combine. While expressing a desire to retain Crosby, he emphasized openness to discussions. This stance aligns with the Raiders’ strategy following a dismal 3-14 campaign that secured the No. 1 overall draft pick.[3][2]

Spytek Balances Retention and Opportunity

Spytek voiced confidence in Crosby’s continued presence for 2026. “Maxx is an elite player,” he stated at the Combine. “I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them.”[2] The executive highlighted their strong rapport and Crosby’s daily rehab efforts at the team facility.

Still, Spytek avoided labeling Crosby untouchable. “I learned a long time ago, always listen,” he remarked. “I’m always listening.”[2] This measured approach comes amid the Raiders’ rebuild under new head coach Klint Kubiak, their fifth full-time leader for Crosby since 2019.[3]

Injury Decision Fuels Underlying Tension

Crosby’s 2025 season ended prematurely when the Raiders placed him on injured reserve with two games left, despite his protests. The move followed a left knee injury sustained against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 19. He underwent surgery shortly after the regular season and has focused on recovery since.[3][2]

Prior to the shutdown, Crosby delivered a standout performance with 73 tackles, including a career-high 28 for loss, plus 10 sacks. The decision reportedly aimed to protect draft positioning, which paid off with the top selection. Yet it left Crosby visibly upset, as he stormed out of the facility upon learning the news.[4]

Reports suggest growing frustration on Crosby’s part after playing through five head coaches and just one playoff appearance in seven seasons. Though he publicly dismissed exit rumors, insiders indicate readiness for a change to join a contender.[4]

Potential Suitors and Steep Demands

Several franchises eye Crosby to bolster their defenses. Interest spans teams like the Cowboys, Bears, and Rams, with more than half a dozen approaching Spytek at the Combine.[4]

• Dallas Cowboys: Nearly secured a deal before rivals upped offers.
• Chicago Bears: Linked amid defensive needs.
• Los Angeles Rams: Considered swapping their 13th pick.
• Others: Including Patriots under Mike Vrabel.

The Raiders seek a haul comparable to two first-rounders plus a proven player, setting a high bar for any transaction.[1]

As the Raiders navigate this crossroads, a resolution could reshape both their defense and the league’s balance of power. The coming days will clarify whether Crosby remains in Silver and Black or dons a new uniform. What do you think about the Raiders’ next move? Tell us in the comments.
