President Trump on Wednesday ratcheted up his criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of benefiting from america and saying he has carried out a “terrible job” main his war-torn nation.

Trump went after Zelensky and questioned U.S. help for Ukraine in its struggle towards Russia a day after he appeared guilty the Ukrainian chief for beginning the battle. Zelensky responded to these earlier feedback by saying Trump “lives in this disinformation space.”

“Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and ‘TRUMP,’ will never be able to settle,” Trump posted Wednesday on Fact Social.

He questioned why america has spent billions of {dollars} in help of Ukraine and why the Biden administration didn’t demand Europe put in an equal quantity, given its proximity to the battle.

“He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle,'” Trump wrote of Zelensky. “A Dictator with out Elections, Zelenskyy higher transfer quick or he’s not going to have a Nation left.

“In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit only ‘TRUMP,’ and the Trump Administration, can do. Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring Peace, and Zelenskyy probably wants to keep the ‘gravy train’ going,” Trump continued. “I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues…..”

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, after amassing troops on the border and demanding a ban on Ukraine ever becoming a member of NATO. The invasion came about almost a decade after Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.

Ukraine postponed its 2024 presidential elections due to martial regulation being in place amid the Russian invasion.

Prime Trump administration officers met Tuesday in Saudi Arabia with Russian officers in step one towards negotiating a ceasefire settlement in Ukraine. The assembly didn’t embrace Ukrainian officers, which irked Zelensky.

Trump vowed to finish the struggle throughout his presidential marketing campaign. He has shrugged off questions on which social gathering is at fault or whether or not Ukraine is an equal member of peace talks, saying he needs the killing to cease.

His rhetoric about ending the struggle, and the truth that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin final week earlier than speaking to Zelensky, has marked a shift in posture from the Biden administration, which championed the idea of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”

Trump on Tuesday was sharply vital of Zelensky when requested by reporters in regards to the assembly in Saudi Arabia.

“Today I heard, ‘Oh, well we weren’t invited.’ Well, you’ve been there for three years,” he mentioned of Ukraine. “It is best to’ve ended it in three years. It is best to have by no means began it. You might have made a deal.”

Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth final week referred to as it “unrealistic” for Ukraine to return to its pre-2014 borders as a part of a ceasefire settlement with Russia, or to achieve NATO membership. These feedback sparked criticism, as some noticed it as giving freely negotiating leverage for Ukraine earlier than peace talks started in earnest.

As of the tip of fiscal 12 months 2024, Congress had authorised almost $183 billion in Ukraine help, in keeping with a federal authorities oversight workplace.

A Jan. 20 launch from the State Division mentioned the U.S. had offered roughly $66 billion in navy help to Ukraine since February 2022, in addition to billions of {dollars} in different types of help.
