LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – As a result of not sufficient persons are following the “Move Over” regulation, the Nevada State Police have made a shareable video that explains it.
Sgt. Chris Brown says:
“Any time you see flashing lights on the shoulder, you’re required to slow down and move over. This law saves lives. We’ve seen way too many construction workers, troopers, officers, killed because of folks not moving over and slowing down. It only takes a split second for something to go wrong, and then we’re in a situation that will change peoples’ lives forever. Please respect the lights, respect the cones, and do your part to work with us to help us get home safely.”
The “Move Over” regulation has been on the books since 2003.
In 2017 it was amended to incorporate work crews from the Nevada Dept of Transportation.
However as one other trooper has mentioned: you must transfer over for *any car flashing lights on the aspect of the street. Please share this message. Thanks.
Buckle up, drive rigorously – and, please put down that telephone!
