Los Angeles – Rapper Lil Nas X drew attention during a routine errand on February 6, as he browsed for a second-hand refrigerator at a South Central appliance store while dressed in striking Western attire.[1][2]
A Head-Turning Western Ensemble
Fans and onlookers could not miss the 26-year-old artist, known for hits like “Light Again!,” as he channeled his signature flair for bold looks.[1] Despite recent headlines dominated by legal matters, Lil Nas X appeared relaxed and focused on the task at hand. His outfit paid homage to cowboy roots that propelled his early fame.
The ensemble featured several standout pieces that blended Americana with street style:
- A white Stetson cowboy hat perched atop his head.
- An American flag graphic T-shirt layered over black shorts.
- Wide-calf black cowboy boots completing the rugged vibe.
- A face mask for added discretion during the outing.[2]
This choice of attire sparked online buzz, reminding observers of his “Old Town Road” era while showcasing a casual side amid everyday activities.
Hands-On with the Appliance Hunt
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, selected a used refrigerator from the store’s inventory. Store employees assisted as he helped load the bulky item into the back of his SUV. The practical purchase highlighted a shift toward grounded routines.
After securing the fridge, he made another stop at a nearby Home Depot, suggesting preparations for home improvements or installation. Photographers captured these moments, underscoring the rapper’s willingness to tackle chores personally. Such sightings offered a glimpse into his life beyond the stage lights and studio sessions.[2]

Navigating Recent Turbulence
The fridge outing came months after a chaotic incident on August 21, 2025, in Studio City. Lil Nas X had been filmed wandering Ventura Boulevard in underwear and white western boots, shouting lyrics and gesturing at vehicles. He reportedly charged at officers, shed his remaining clothes, and placed an orange traffic cone on his head before police intervened.
Authorities arrested him while nude; he allegedly threw punches at multiple officers. Prosecutors filed three felony counts of battery causing injury to a peace officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty, posted $75,000 bail, and received orders to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings. A hospital visit followed suspicions of a drug overdose.[2]
His father expressed visible distress during a court appearance where Lil Nas X wore a blue jumpsuit. The case looms with a preliminary hearing set for March 12, potentially carrying up to five years in prison if convicted.
Steps Toward Stability
Following the arrest, Lil Nas X completed an inpatient treatment program. Reports from November indicated positive progress. His attorney shared optimism in a statement to Rolling Stone: “As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great and we’re super happy for him. We’re looking forward to a positive resolution in this case, which we’re very confident of.”[1]
This appliance store visit signaled a return to normalcy. Everyday tasks like fridge shopping demonstrated resilience amid scrutiny. Observers noted the contrast between his recent struggles and this composed public appearance.
