Summerlin – GFiber launched its high-speed fiber-optic internet service on Tuesday, giving Las Vegas residents access to gigabit broadband plans starting at $70 per month.[1]

Gigabit Speeds Transform Everyday Connectivity

Residents now face a compelling choice for blazing-fast internet. GFiber delivers symmetric upload and download speeds that outpace many local options.[2] The service promises low latency around 13 milliseconds, ideal for streaming, gaming, and remote work.

Three tiered plans cater to different needs. Each includes a router, unlimited data, and no contracts or hidden fees.[3]

  • Core 1 Gig: Up to 1 gigabit per second for $70 monthly, with Wi-Fi 6E router.
  • Home 3 Gig: Up to 3 gigabits per second for $100 monthly, featuring Wi-Fi 7 and coverage up to 5,000 square feet.
  • Edge 8 Gig: Up to 8 gigabits per second for $150 monthly, complete with battery backup and uptime guarantee.

Self-setup via app or free professional installation ensures quick activation. Higher tiers offer extras like in-home wiring consultations.[2]

Two Years from Approval to Activation

Clark County commissioners greenlit GFiber’s franchise in February 2024 for unincorporated areas. The Las Vegas City Council followed in June that year for city limits.[1] Groundbreaking occurred in January 2025 on the west side, with construction expanding across the metro area.

A launch event drew crowds from 4 to 6 p.m. at El Dorado Cantina in Tivoli Village. Demonstrations highlighted the service’s capabilities. The rollout begins in Summerlin before reaching neighborhoods like Paradise.

Users check availability by entering addresses on the GFiber website. Initial focus remains on this master-planned community known for its growth.

Pure Fiber Sets GFiber Apart

GFiber relies entirely on fiber-optic infrastructure to the home. This design delivers consistent speeds in both directions, unlike coax systems from competitors.[1]

“We are fiber first, meaning what we put in the ground and what we make available to our customers is 100 percent fiber,” said Melani Griffith, GFiber’s chief growth officer.[1] She emphasized superior reliability and volume capacity.

Higher plans include advanced Wi-Fi 7 routers for multi-device households. An uptime guarantee backs the top tier, refunding 25 percent of the bill for excessive downtime.

New Headquarters Signals Lasting Presence

GFiber leased space on the first floor of Meridian’s east building at 1 Meridian Vista Drive. Occupancy starts in spring 2026, serving the southwest submarket.[4]

The company pledged long-term investment. “We are here to invest in Las Vegas for the long term,” Griffith noted.[1] Proximity to major roads supports operations amid the region’s expansion.

Key Takeaways

  • Gigabit plans start at $70 with no data caps or contracts.
  • 100 percent fiber ensures symmetric speeds and reliability.
  • Expansion follows Summerlin debut to more Las Vegas areas.

GFiber’s entry challenges the status quo, promising enhanced digital access for Summerlin’s homes and businesses. Residents stand to gain from competition that prioritizes speed and simplicity. What do you think of these new options? Tell us in the comments.
