LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Hundreds of individuals made their solution to Boulder Metropolis’s Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Saturday morning for the annual Wreaths Throughout America Day.
Nationwide, hundreds of thousands of wreaths are laid on the graves of America’s Veterans. Remembrance, honor, and instructing are the core values of Wreaths Throughout America and all three had been witnessed in Boulder Metropolis as mates and households took the time to pay their respects.
Sufficient wreaths had been laid to nearly attain Boulder Metropolis’s total inhabitants of greater than 14,000.
The wreaths had been laid by volunteers like Suzi Waltos who attended the occasion with the Daughters of the American Revolution — one in all many teams uniting on the ceremony.
“We do this just to honor our veterans, our grandpas, our dads and sons and brothers and great grandfathers every year,” Waltos stated. “It’s cool. It’s. You did something with your day, so it’s just thanking them and letting them know that they’re not forgotten.”
Total, 12,084 wreaths had been positioned to honor these laid to relaxation in Boulder Metropolis. Earlier than the wreaths had been laid, the grave markers had been cleaned all through the week by volunteers and veterans like Jimmy DePew of US Vets and The Mission Continues.
“It’s awesome because there’s so much community of what we want for veterans support,” DePew stated. “I want all these people to understand why they’re here and what our heroes, you know, lay their lives down for us, for them and their families. So it’s good to see kids out here, too.”
