LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Kansas vacationer concerned in a “controversial” encounter with a Las Vegas Metro officer was discovered not responsible of battery on a protected particular person, her attorneys introduced Monday.

Verlonicia Carr was visiting Las Vegas when police arrested her on expenses of battery on a protected particular person.

In keeping with police, on Sept. 11, 2023, Carr was at a kiosk close to the Las Vegas Neighborhood Middle trying to cost her telephone after being kicked out of her resort at a on line casino. “The footage shows Ms. Carr being forcibly slammed into a wall, then forced down to the ground and struck multiple times, and held down in a prolonged and violent manner,” the CEGA Regulation Group launch mentioned.

Carr’s attorneys confirmed {that a} jury returned a not-guilty verdict on two expenses of battery.

“While we are grateful that the jury saw through part of the narrative presented by the prosecution, we remain deeply disturbed by the excessive force used by law enforcement in this case,” Carl Arnold, Lead legal professional for CEGA Regulation Group mentioned. “Our client — a petite woman, unarmed and alone — was brutalized for asking to file a complaint. The system failed her in more ways than one.”

CEGA Regulation Group mentioned it’s going to file a civil lawsuit towards the LVMPD and the officer concerned, alleging extreme drive, violation of civil rights, and emotional and bodily hurt brought on by the incident.

“This was not policing. This was punishment,” Arnold mentioned. “We will pursue justice through alllegal avenues available to us. We will not allow this kind of violent overreach to go unanswered.”
