Offense ruled the day in softball, as Chaparral outlasted Sunrise Mountain 17-13 in a shootout. Faith Lutheran mercy-ruled Valley 17-0 in three innings, with freshman Madison Pitts excelling both at the plate and on the mound.[1]
Lake Mead prevailed over Cadence 11-7 in an eight-inning thriller, and Tech topped Sierra Vista 9-6. Players like Gia Salazar of Lake Mead went 5-for-5, underscoring the depth of talent in the region.
Boys Volleyball Sweeps and Four-Set Battles
Courts buzzed with action in boys volleyball, where multiple teams secured straight-set victories. Amplus Academy dismissed Sloan Canyon 25-23, 25-18, 25-21, and Bonanza handled Chaparral 25-15, 25-15, 25-20.[1]
Cheyenne overcame Las Vegas 26-28, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22, while Desert Oasis outlasted Del Sol in five sets. Legacy defeated Valley 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 25-9, and Desert Pines swept Canyon Springs 25-15, 25-18, 25-16. Other winners included Cadence, Cimarron-Memorial, Eldorado and Silverado.

A number of athletes posted eye-catching stats. In baseball, Kingston Kela of Faith Lutheran went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs, while Palo Verde’s Kyle Johnson slugged a home run, double and five RBIs.[1]
Softball saw Lake Mead freshman Gia Salazar collect five hits including two triples, and Cadence senior Gabriella Colarco go 4-for-4 with two doubles. Faith Lutheran’s Madison Pitts added a triple and three RBIs while pitching the win.
Boys volleyball featured Cheyenne senior Hunter Perkins with 18 kills, six digs and two aces, and Desert Pines’ Jayden Wade-Rosas tallying 13 assists, nine kills, nine aces and seven digs. Amplus Academy’s Blake Taylor notched 13 kills, 15 digs and four aces.
