Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported a robust increase in group bookings during the early months of 2026. Its destination sales team confirmed 221 future events set for the city, marking a 58 percent rise compared to the previous season.[1] This activity promises to generate 480,000 hotel room nights, with 38 percent of the events new to Las Vegas. The LVCVA’s sales force achieved these results in February and March alone. Much of the momentum stemmed from repeat customers who view Las Vegas as their preferred destination for meetings and events. Conventioneers typically charge expenses to corporate accounts while extending their stays for leisure pursuits.

• Deltek, a software firm new to Las Vegas, with 10,000 room nights planned for 2028.
• Nutanix, a multicloud computing company switching from Chicago, booking 13,000 room nights in 2027.
• Customer Management Practice, a market intelligence firm launching a new event here, slated for 8,000 room nights in 2029.
• HumanX Labs, an AI company and returning client, reserving 12,000 room nights in 2027.
• Fiserv, in financial services and also returning, committing to 16,000 room nights each year from 2028 through 2030.
• Ace Hardware’s corporate meeting, shifting back from Louisville, Kentucky, with 16,000 room nights in 2028.

Beyond corporate meetings, new trade shows added to the excitement. “World of Tiny Homes” debuts in October, drawing an estimated 10,000 attendees and benefiting nearby areas. The International Council of Shopping Centers extended its annual May event for three more years, projecting around 25,000 participants each time.

Resort operators have noted upticks in group business, using it to offset softer leisure travel. In 2025, overall visitation fell 7.5 percent to 38.5 million visitors, while convention attendance dipped slightly by 0.1 percent to 6 million. Group sales now serve as a vital stabilizer for the economy.

Strategic Focus Amid Economic Headwinds

The LVCVA intensified efforts on group sales to drive recovery. Board members reviewed these achievements alongside other updates, including a leadership change in operations. Steve Schutte of Boyd Gaming Corp. stepped in as executive vice president of operations, succeeding the retired Steve Thompson.
