Las Vegas – Friends and family of Amanda and Victor Frias Rosas gathered Monday evening outside the Smith’s grocery store on Maryland Parkway at Silverado Ranch. The quiet assembly marked the first public gathering since the couple was allegedly gunned down at the location on May 12. In the days that followed the incident, residents have turned to simple acts of remembrance to process the loss.

Why the Moment Resonates

The shooting at a familiar neighborhood store has left many in the area reflecting on how quickly daily routines can change. Employees at the location often serve as steady presences for shoppers who stop in for groceries or quick errands. The vigil offered a chance for those who knew the couple to stand together without speeches or formal programs.

Participants arrived carrying flowers and handwritten notes. They placed the items near the store entrance and lingered in small groups, sharing stories about the victims’ kindness and reliability at work. The scene remained subdued, with no large crowds or media presence disrupting the private nature of the evening.

Details of the Gathering

The vigil began shortly after sunset and continued for roughly two hours. Organizers kept the focus on personal tributes rather than public statements. Attendees included coworkers from the Smith’s location as well as longtime customers who recognized the couple from regular visits.

Those present described the event as a way to acknowledge the sudden absence felt throughout the store and surrounding neighborhood. No official investigation updates were shared during the gathering, allowing the emphasis to stay on support for the families.

Looking Ahead

Local residents have continued to leave flowers and messages at the site in the days since the vigil. The store itself has remained open, though staff members have noted a heavier atmosphere among those who worked alongside the victims. Community members have expressed hope that the quiet show of solidarity will help the families find some measure of comfort in the weeks ahead.
