Lawsuit filed towards Las Vegas metropolis marshals for alleged 'abuse of authority'

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A federal lawsuit filed towards the Metropolis of Las Vegas and two metropolis marshals accuses them of “exceeding their law enforcement jurisdiction” and “infringing on the rights” of individuals, in keeping with a criticism filed in U.S. District Court docket Thursday.

The swimsuit filed by lawyer Adam Breeden, on behalf of Derek Myers, accuses the “renegade city marshals” of conducting unlawful site visitors stops, searches, and arrests on property the place they don’t have any authority.

Meyers was driving on I-11/US95 on Jan. 9, 2025, when he was pulled over by the 2 metropolis marshals, Jason Brooks and Sergio Guzman, for alleged site visitors violations. In line with the lawsuit, he and his car had been searched with no warrant, and he was taken into custody for 17 hours. To this point, no expenses have been filed towards Meyers, the lawsuit said.
