Las Vegas – Metro Pizza is preparing to open its fifth location this June inside the new Bend shopping center on West Sunset Road. The move adds another dining option to a growing retail and entertainment hub in the southwest part of the valley. The chain, long known for its New York-style pies, continues to expand even after closing one of its older spots late last year.

New Site Joins Busy Southwest Hub

The upcoming restaurant will occupy Suite D150 at 8720 West Sunset Road, between Durango Boulevard and Riley Boulevard. It will sit alongside other tenants such as Marafuku Ramen, Mothership Coffee, and The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. The Bend is positioned as one of the larger mixed-use destinations in that part of the city, drawing both local residents and visitors with its mix of shops, eateries, and entertainment. Brand partner Joe Verhoest confirmed the June opening timeline but offered no additional details at this stage. Construction and permitting work are already under way to meet the summer target.

Decades of Family Tradition

Cousins John Arena and Sam Facchini founded Metro Pizza in 1980. Their family ties to pizza-making stretch back to a New York operation that began in the 1920s. Arena, a third-generation pizzaiolo and World Pizza Champion, has guided the brand’s growth across multiple sites while maintaining its focus on slow-fermented dough and hearth-baked pies. The company earned National Pizza Operators of the Year honors in 1986 and Nevada Restaurateurs of the Year recognition in 1999. Four locations remain open, including one inside Ellis Island Casino. A longtime spot near Tropicana and Maryland Parkway closed after 37 years of service, yet the chain has kept adding new outlets.

Signature Menu and Offerings

Guests can expect the same core lineup that has defined the brand for decades. Classic cheese pizzas sit alongside specialty pies such as The Gotham, topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, green peppers, ground beef, and onions. The menu also includes appetizers, salads, calzones, and desserts. Beyond dine-in service, Metro Pizza sells take-and-bake pies and offers hands-on pizza-making classes. The company’s website emphasizes its commitment to traditional methods: slow-fermented dough made from premium wheat, sauces from vine-ripened tomatoes, and fresh toppings selected for quality.

Steady Expansion Continues

With the new Southwest Valley location on track for a June debut, Metro Pizza is reinforcing its presence in a competitive local market. The chain’s approach blends long-standing recipes with the practical needs of a growing city, giving longtime fans and newcomers alike another place to enjoy its signature pies.
