OPM tells HR leaders that response to Musk is 'voluntary'

The Workplace of Personnel Administration (OPM) knowledgeable company leaders that worker response to an e mail asking for a recap of what they achieved this week is voluntary and that failure to take action won’t be thought of a resignation.

The steerage given to the human sources officers at each company undercuts a Saturday push from Elon Musk demanding that each one federal workers ship 5 bullet notes of what they achieved within the week prior by midnight Monday or face elimination.

“This afternoon, OPM during a Chief Human Capital Officers Council meeting, informed agencies that employee responses to the OPM email is voluntarily,” in keeping with an e mail obtained by The Hill.

“OPM also clarified that a non-response to the email does not equate to a resignation.”

The steerage from OPM to human sources leaders comes amid a turf warfare between company leaders and Musk.

A number of departments have instructed workers to not reply to the e-mail.

In a message to workers Saturday, FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned that “when and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses.”

“The FBI, through the Office of the Director, is in charge of our review processes and will conduct reviews,” he added.

DHS management despatched an e mail to its greater than 250,000 workers likewise directing them not to reply to the e-mail.

“DHS management will respond on behalf of the Department and all its component offices,” the e-mail said.

“No reporting action from you is needed at this time. For now, please pause any responses outside your DHS chain of command.”

Trump, nevertheless, defended Musk’s mandate to workers on Monday.

“There was a lot of genius in sending it. We’re trying to find out if people are working and so we’re sending a letter to people, please tell us what you did last week. If people don’t respond, it’s very possible that there is no such person or they’re not working,” Trump advised reporters within the Oval Workplace.
