Las Vegas – SLAM! Nevada wrestling team clinched its fifth consecutive Class 5A state title Saturday in Winnemucca, powering through with a state-record nine individual champions.[1][2]

Unmatched Team Dominance

The Bulls amassed 247.5 points to claim the team championship, leaving second-place McQueen far behind at 114 points.[1] Liberty finished third with 82.5 points, followed by Spanish Springs at 70.5 and Green Valley at 64.

Every one of SLAM! Nevada’s 15 wrestlers who competed placed in the tournament, showcasing depth across the roster. Coach Jake Rollans highlighted the significance of the victories, stating, “Every one of the championships has been special. It means so much to the kids, and that’s what it’s all about.”[1]

This triumph marked the ninth longest title streak in Nevada high school wrestling history. The team entered as heavy favorites after rolling to their fifth straight regional crown, where they scored 323 points and crowned 10 individual champions.[3][4]

Nine Champions Cement Legacy

SLAM! Nevada set a new state record by producing nine weight-class winners, surpassing their own mark of eight from the previous year. The individual triumphs included:

  • Vander Tran at 106 pounds
  • Destin Maestas at 120 pounds
  • Frank Soliz at 132 pounds
  • Brenden Agcaoili at 138 pounds (four-time state champion)
  • Anthony Delgado at 144 pounds
  • Drake Hooiman at 150 pounds (four-time state champion)
  • Isaac Balden at 157 pounds
  • Santiago Cabrera at 175 pounds
  • Satoshi Davis at 215 pounds

Agcaoili, committed to North Dakota State, and Hooiman, headed to Purdue, became the first pair from a 5A school to win four state titles in the same year.[1] Rollans expressed particular pride in the record, noting, “More than the five (team titles), I’m even more excited about the nine individuals. I really wanted that record, and I knew this team could do it.”

Building a Dynasty

SLAM! Nevada’s run began building momentum through tough scheduling, including out-of-state competitions that prepared them for high-stakes events. Regionals proved a preview of state dominance, with victories in 10 of 14 classes.[4]

Rollans emphasized the wrestlers’ readiness for college, saying of his four-time winners, “They’re ready. I think they’ll step right in there, make an immediate impact and achieve their goals.”[1] The program’s consistency has elevated Nevada wrestling, drawing attention statewide.

In the girls’ invitational, SLAM! Nevada placed third with 95 points behind Centennial’s victory, signaling growing strength ahead of the sport’s full sanctioning next year.
