New York City experienced a sudden act of violence in its Midtown corridor when an 18-year-old was attacked with a knife. The incident took place in the early morning hours directly in front of a tall office building. This spot sits within easy walking distance of two of the city’s most visited attractions.

Authorities placed the attack at roughly 1:55 a.m. The victim sustained the injury to the neck while standing outside the 48-story tower. The address falls along the Avenue of the Americas at its intersection with West 51st Street.

That stretch of Midtown remains active even in the overnight hours because of nearby hotels, offices, and transit hubs. Police responded to the scene shortly after the assault was reported.
