North Las Vegas – A violent early-morning collision at a busy intersection left two people dead and others injured, prompting police to arrest the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. The crash occurred on March 22, 2026, near Lone Mountain Road and Clayton Street, where a sport utility vehicle barreled through a red light and slammed into another vehicle.[1][2] Authorities later identified the suspect and filed serious felony charges as the investigation revealed impairment as a key factor.

Officers responded to the scene just after 1 a.m. on March 22. A 2016 Honda HR-V sped eastbound on Lone Mountain Road, disregarded a red traffic signal, and broadsided a 2005 Ford Expedition heading north on Clayton Street.[3] The force of the impact sent both vehicles spinning out of control, crashing into a power pole and a wall.

Emergency crews worked quickly to free trapped occupants from the wreckage. High speed contributed to the severity, according to preliminary findings from the North Las Vegas Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit. Rescuers pronounced one victim dead at the location while transporting others to University Medical Center.[4]

Two Lives Lost, Others Fight for Recovery

Andrea Collins, 38, sat in the right-front passenger seat of the Honda without a seat belt. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Rogers Andrus Jr., 53, drove the Ford Expedition and reached the hospital in critical condition before succumbing to his wounds later that day.[1]

Two additional passengers sustained injuries but stabilized after treatment. Their identities remained undisclosed as of the latest reports. Families of the deceased received support from authorities amid the tragedy.

Suspect Faces String of Felony Charges

Arthur Hall, 23, piloted the Honda HR-V. He suffered injuries in the crash and received hospital care before police took him into custody. Investigators secured a search warrant for his blood samples, suspecting alcohol or drugs played a role.[2]

Prosecutors charged Hall with three counts of DUI resulting in death or substantial bodily harm. He also faced three counts of reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm. The multiple counts reflected the harm to three individuals beyond the two fatalities. Hall appeared set for a court date on March 31.

Police Probe Impairment and Speed

North Las Vegas police pinpointed the Honda’s failure to stop at the red light as the primary cause. Impairment emerged as a suspected contributor early in the probe. Detectives gathered evidence, including vehicle data and witness accounts, to build the case.[3]

The department urged tips from the public through its hotline or Crime Stoppers. Such crashes underscored the dangers of divided attention behind the wheel. Officials emphasized ongoing analysis of toxicology results to confirm impairment levels.

  • High speed through intersection
  • Red light violation
  • Suspected DUI involvement
  • Multiple vehicles totaled
  • Power pole and wall impacts

Key Takeaways

  • Two fatalities stemmed from one driver’s alleged impairment and recklessness.
  • Three felony counts each for DUI and reckless driving highlight the charges’ severity.
  • Seat belt use proved critical; one victim lacked it.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the irreversible consequences of impaired driving on public roads. Communities continue to grapple with such preventable losses, pressing for stricter enforcement and awareness. What do you think about efforts to curb DUI incidents? Tell us in the comments.
