Henderson – Local leaders gathered on May 4 for a ceremonial groundbreaking that signals a major upgrade to emergency medical services in Southern Nevada. Community Ambulance, a key provider in the region, initiated construction on a new headquarters designed to handle surging demand. The project addresses the rapid population growth in Henderson and surrounding areas, where timely ambulance response remains critical for public safety.

A Response to Booming Demand

Community Ambulance launched in 2010 amid rising emergency room wait times and gaps in ambulance coverage across Southern Nevada. What began with just three ambulances has evolved into a fleet exceeding 90 vehicles, supported by more than 700 employees. The company holds the highest accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services since 2012 and now serves Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and unincorporated Clark County.[1][2]

Henderson’s West side, in particular, has seen significant expansion, prompting the need for enhanced infrastructure. Officials highlighted the company’s reliable performance during the event. Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero noted the provider’s consistent benchmarks: “They’ve met their benchmarks. They are always on time, and they help our firefighters be able to reach those most in need as quickly as possible as the backup and to do transports from hospital to hospital.”[2]

Details of the New Facility

The new headquarters spans 42,000 square feet across two stories on a site larger than six acres, located south of the Henderson Executive Airport. This state-of-the-art complex will house a dispatch center alongside office spaces, creating a centralized hub for operations. Key features include dedicated classrooms for paramedic and EMT training, executive offices, a spacious apparatus bay for ambulance storage, on-site maintenance facilities, and parking for over 250 vehicles.[2]

These elements address logistical challenges faced by the growing service. Training spaces will support ongoing professional development, while maintenance capabilities ensure ambulances stay road-ready. The dispatch center, in particular, promises streamlined coordination for emergency calls, potentially shaving precious minutes off response times in a sprawling urban area.

Leadership Driving the Expansion

At the helm are co-founders Robert Richardson, CEO and partner, and Brian Rogers, COO and partner. Richardson brings nearly three decades of EMS experience, including roles as a paramedic, operations manager, and division chief for the Henderson Fire Department. Rogers, with a similar trajectory starting as a paramedic in 1988, helped scale previous operations before joining forces to establish Community Ambulance.[1]

Their local roots underscore the company’s commitment to Southern Nevada. Both leaders transitioned from public and private EMS roles to build a provider focused on hometown service. This expansion reflects their vision, approved through a city land-use amendment in April 2025 that rezoned 2.93 acres from business-industrial to public/semipublic use.[3]

Broader Implications for Public Safety

Henderson, a major suburb of Las Vegas, continues to attract residents and businesses, straining existing emergency infrastructure. Community Ambulance’s role extends beyond 911 responses; it handles nonemergency transports and supports fire departments during peak demands. The new facility positions the company to absorb increased call volumes without compromising speed or quality.

  • Enhanced training reduces errors and improves care standards.
  • On-site maintenance minimizes downtime for ambulances.
  • Centralized dispatch optimizes routing across service areas.
  • Expanded parking supports fleet growth amid population surges.

Stakeholders, including city officials and fire services, view the project as a partnership win. It aligns with broader efforts to fortify public safety nets in a region prone to high tourist traffic and heat-related incidents.

What Matters Now
This development arrives as Southern Nevada grapples with ambulance response challenges. Reliable providers like Community Ambulance help maintain benchmarks, ensuring firefighters focus on fires while medics handle medical transports.

Timeline and Future Outlook

Construction crews expect to complete the headquarters by the second quarter of 2027, roughly two years from the ceremonial start. In the interim, Community Ambulance operates from its current base at 91 Corporate Park Drive in Henderson. The project, developed in collaboration with Harris Associates, marks a milestone for a company that has steadily gained territory contracts.[4][2]

Residents can anticipate smoother emergency responses as the facility comes online. For a community on the rise, this investment reinforces Henderson’s priority on health and safety, setting a model for infrastructure adapting to growth.

The groundbreaking not only launches a building but also affirms a commitment to excellence in emergency care, one that local families will rely on for years ahead.
