Former Lake Mead worker fired throughout DOGE cuts

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Greater than a dozen Nationwide Parks Service staff have misplaced their jobs at Lake Mead Nationwide Recreation Space.

The cuts, coming as a part of Elon Musk’s Division of Authorities Effectivity’s (DOGE) efforts.

A type of fired workers, Riley Rackliffe, was liable for testing the toxicity of the water in Lake Mead. On Valentine’s Day, Rackliffe came upon he and the opposite workers of their probationary first 12 months of labor had been fired.

“We got to save money. I mean, are we ever going to have money to put in our pocket at the end of the year or not?” He requested. “I mean, we need to run this country like a business, and we need to have a profit at the end of the year. We need to make cuts where we need to make cuts.”

Lake Mead holds the title of the deadliest nationwide park within the nation. With DOGE’s job cuts eradicating park employees, lawmakers like Senator Jacky Rosen worry it may well get even deadlier.

“This isn’t right. God forbid, with people at Lake Mead who have worked on safety issues,” Rosen stated. “God forbid that you and your family’s out there and somebody falls off a jet ski, who’s going to be there to help?”

Rackliffe stated that there most likely are pointless jobs within the authorities, however he and the roles of others on the lake weren’t.

“There’s probably government waste. Every organization gets a little bit, big for its britches sometime,” Rackliffe stated. “But for at least these 13 people, they got fired. It had nothing to do with what job they had. Nobody looked at my job description and said, this isn’t necessary.”

Rackliffe didn’t obtain any severance pay as a result of he was a probationary worker. He is now at dwelling together with his one-year-old daughter searching for his subsequent job.
