Historic Hoover Dam locomotive makes ultimate journey to museum

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A historic piece of southern Nevada’s historical past was moved into place on the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

On Tuesday a 30-ton locomotive, initially used within the development of the Hoover Dam within the Thirties, was rigorously lifted by crane and relocated to its everlasting show within the museum.

Davenport Locomotive Works constructed the locomotive in 1936. Its gasoline-powered engine performed an important position in transporting supplies for the Hoover Dam between 1936 and 1963. Now, it’s being preserved for future generations to understand as a part of the museum’s upcoming customer middle.

“The relocation of the locomotive was a precise and delicate process,” stated Christopher MacMahon, museum director. The locomotive was first lifted from the museum’s tracks onto a truck, transported throughout the development web site, after which swung into place on a devoted show monitor.
