Job seekers head to Las Vegas truthful looking for employment

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Many job seekers gathered on the Boulevard Mall for the Las Vegas job truthful, hoping to discover a place that suited them.

Rashad Okali was considered one of many job seekers. After relocating from West Africa to Las Vegas final November, Okali has been actively looking for employment ever since.

“I’m looking for a new job. I’ve been looking for a job for a while,” Okali stated. “I’m in search of one thing in both gross sales or companies, or information entry.”

Candidates met with recruiters from greater than 40 employers, hoping to land a place from the a whole lot of job openings, together with schooling, legislation enforcement, healthcare companies, hospitality and gaming

“After the pandemic, I got into security, and that’s what I’m looking for here in Las Vegas,” Ebony Mims, a former nurse from Texas, stated.  

Luis Luevano, a Las Vegas native, is looking for a contemporary begin for his profession. After graduating from highschool a number of years in the past, he has gained expertise by way of numerous jobs.

“Right now, I’ve been in between jobs. I’ve been looking for about a month or so, and I have noticed the job market is pretty challenging right now,” Luevano stated. “Simply mainly in search of any open positions, any entry-level, simply something proper now, to be sincere.”

Tonya Honest, who not too long ago moved from Charlotte to Las Vegas to be nearer to household, can also be on the job hunt.

“I obviously need more money, but I want a long-term career,” Honest stated. “[I want to] be able to have a good work-life balance… make good money. Have good benefits.”

Like many others on the job expo, Honest is not only looking for momentary work, however a profession that gives long-term stability. Nevada ranks worst within the nation for unemployment at 5.8% based on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
