Las Vegas – Ellis Island Casino & Hotel pushes toward full completion of its ambitious $35 million expansion this year, blending fresh upgrades with the property’s longstanding appeal to locals and visitors alike.[1][2]

Nearly Six Decades of Value Meets Bold Renewal

The family-owned casino first opened its doors in 1968, carving out a niche off the Strip with affordable drinks, hearty meals, and approachable table minimums.[1]

Generations of the Ellis family have steered the property through decades of change, always prioritizing guest value over extravagance. Now, as construction crews tackle the final stretch, the venue stands as a testament to enduring popularity. Positive feedback has poured in since early phases debuted, underscoring the demand for its unique charm amid Las Vegas’ evolving landscape.[1]

Christina Ellis-Stalker, vice president of development, highlighted this balance: “We have always been a small guy in a big guy’s game, so to be able to have a property with this fresh look and still emphasize the value we provide to locals and tourists is great.”[1]

Phase One Delivered a Doubled Gaming Floor and Striking New Look

Workers unveiled the first major segment late last summer, nearly doubling the casino floor’s footprint with nearly 250 additional slot machines.[1][2]

A standout addition emerged at the center: a sleek bar topped by a 50-foot-long, 11-foot-tall LED screen. High-limit gaming areas drew serious players, while Boomer’s Sportsbook secured a permanent home. Outside, a vibrant digital facade lit up with over 1,200 square feet of LED lights and roughly 1.74 million pixels. The Deck, a rooftop bar offering panoramic Strip views and seasonal cocktails, followed in late October.[1][3]

Phase Two Refreshed Core Spaces Without Skipping a Beat

Earlier this month, crews wrapped the second installment, reactivating the original casino floor with modern touches like updated wallpaper and a revamped players club.[1][4]

This step ensured seamless operations as guests continued to enjoy the expanded layout. Dining and entertainment venues stayed accessible, maintaining the flow for regulars. The methodical approach minimized disruptions, allowing the property to thrive amid ongoing work.[2]

Final Phase Targets Iconic Karaoke and Dining Hotspots

Current efforts center on the property’s oldest sections, including a full facelift for the long-popular Karaoke Lounge, set to reopen by May or June.[1]

Karaoke enthusiasts now belt out tunes on the outdoor stage at The Front Yard, the 2019-opened beer garden that remains a casual draw. Renovations also modernize Ellis Island BBQ and Village Pub & Cafe, with the latter staying partially open in stages. Ellis-Stalker noted the smooth transition: “So people still have the opportunity to sing but on the big stage.”[1]

  • Karaoke Lounge: Full refresh, temporary relocation to Front Yard.
  • Ellis Island BBQ: Updated aesthetics and facilities.
  • Village Pub & Cafe: Phased modernization while operational.
  • Overall goal: Integrate oldest 1968-era spaces into refreshed vibe.

New Amenities at a Glance

Casino Bar 50×11-foot LED screen, 25 seats
Exterior Facade 1,200+ sq ft LEDs, 1.74M pixels

Boomer’s Sportsbook Permanent high-tech setup

These enhancements position Ellis Island for sustained success.[2]

Key Takeaways:

  • $35M project preserves affordable Vegas spirit while adding modern flair.
  • All phases prioritize minimal guest disruption.
