Las Vegas – High school athletes across the Las Vegas Valley delivered dominant displays on Thursday in baseball, softball, and boys volleyball. Lopsided scores defined much of the action, with pitchers throwing no-hitters and hitters crushing extra-base hits. Standout performances from seniors and underclassmen alike propelled their teams to victory, underscoring the intensity of the prep season.[1]

Baseball Fields See Offensive Fireworks

Run-rule victories dominated Thursday’s baseball slate, as 13 of 14 games ended early due to mercy rules. Canyon Springs routed Western 11-2, while Centennial edged Las Vegas 6-1 behind a late offensive surge. Other blowouts included Clark’s 20-5 thrashing of Valley and Palo Verde’s 19-1 dismantling of The Meadows.[1]

Silverado’s Giovanni Guariglia slugged his ninth home run of the season, and Mojave’s Brehnden Butac collected two triples and two doubles despite the loss.[1]

Softball Teams Pile On the Runs

Softball mirrored baseball’s trend toward high-scoring affairs, with multiple games invoking the run rule after three innings. Cadence overwhelmed Del Sol 24-3, and Cimarron-Memorial crushed Eldorado 24-4. Las Vegas freshman Sophia Ortiz notched four hits with three doubles, while Durango freshman Jailynn Ford homered and tripled with four RBIs.[1]

Boys Volleyball Features Tight Battles

Boys volleyball offered the day’s most competitive sets, with all four matches going at least four frames. Cadence outlasted Bonanza 3-2 in a thriller that went to 15-13 in the fifth. Liberty swept Clark 3-0, and Mojave dispatched Western 3-0. Virgin Valley prevailed over Doral Academy 3-1 after dropping the opener 17-25.[1]

Cadence junior Clive Sanidad dished out 32 assists, six digs, and a block in the win over Bonanza. Virgin Valley senior Alonzo Roque tallied 15 assists and 12 digs against Doral Academy. These efforts highlighted the defensive grit required in volleyball’s extended rallies.[1]
