Las Vegas – Nevada high school athletes turned in impressive showings across baseball, softball and boys volleyball Tuesday, with lopsided victories and clutch plays defining the day’s action.[1]

Bishop Gorman’s Firepower Lights Up Baseball Diamond

Bishop Gorman crushed Shadow Ridge 12-2 in just six innings, sparked by senior Chase Wilk’s home run and four RBIs.[1][2]

Liberty also dominated, handing Las Vegas High a 7-1 defeat behind sophomore Austin Rodriguez’s two-for-three effort that included a triple and two RBIs. Cayden Rogers-Ramirez pitched four innings for Liberty, allowing four hits. Other blowouts included Canyon Springs’ 21-2 rout of Sunrise Mountain, Clark’s 15-4 win over Cimarron-Memorial, Desert Oasis’ 18-0 shutout of Del Sol, Desert Pines’ 11-2 triumph against Cadence, and Mater East’s 15-0 mercy rule over Eldorado.

Closer contests saw Bonanza edge Centennial 8-3, with Centennial’s Chase Hurley going three-for-four including a double, triple and two RBIs, while Bonanza’s Landan Rehmel-Quinones was three-for-three with a double. Green Valley prevailed 5-2 over Legacy, and Spring Valley hammered Mojave 12-2 led by Brayden Lenahan’s three-for-four performance with two RBIs and four doubles. Liberty Baptist and Lincoln County split, with scores of 2-1 and 18-8.

Softball Delivers Tense Finishes

Bishop Gorman held off Doral Academy 6-4 in a competitive matchup that highlighted the Gaels’ early-season strength.[1]

Pahrump Valley rolled to a 13-3 victory against Silverado, while Virgin Valley escaped with a 9-8 win over Parowan from Utah. Pahranagat Valley added to the winners’ column by beating GV Christian 7-2. These results underscored the tight battles in softball as teams fine-tune their lineups.

Volleyball Thrillers and Dominant Sweeps

Arbor View outlasted Desert Oasis in five sets 3-2, with setter Keagan Sugden dishing out 59 assists to power the comeback.[1]

Sweeps defined much of the action elsewhere. Centennial dispatched Mojave 3-0 behind Lincoln Larson’s 14 kills, eight aces and six digs. Coronado blanked Moapa Valley 3-0, Shadow Ridge topped Sky Pointe 3-0, Sierra Vista defeated Silverado 3-0, and Virgin Valley shut out Valley 3-0. Boulder City took Green Valley 3-1, The Meadows edged Clark 3-2, and Sierra Vista’s Ayden Lara shone with 11 kills, nine digs and two aces, while Virgin Valley’s Parker Jensen tallied 15 kills, seven digs and three aces against Valley.

Key Takeaways

  • Bishop Gorman’s offense overwhelmed foes with double-digit runs and star power from Chase Wilk.
  • Boys volleyball sweepers like Centennial and Coronado asserted early dominance.
  • Standout pitchers and hitters in baseball set the tone for Liberty and Spring Valley.
