Suspected copper wire theft at NV Power substation causes energy outage in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A suspected copper wire theft at an NV Power substation is believed to be the reason for an influence outage within the Las Vegas valley.

The outage started round 3:15 p.m. Monday and affected 12 clients, in line with NV Power.

NV Power’s preliminary investigation confirmed that the outage was brought on by a suspected copper wire theft on the substation within the space. The investigation into the reason for the outage continues to be ongoing.

In response to NV Power, as of 6:15 p.m., all however one of many clients affected by the outage had their energy restored.

Harry Reid Worldwide Airport additionally reported an outage that affected the C gates in Terminal 1 round 6:45 p.m. It’s unclear right now if the 2 outages are associated.
