LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — With the closing of Thrive Hashish Market’s Smoke and Mirrors Hashish Lounge many are questioning what the longer term holds for the marijuana trade in Las Vegas.
Thrive’s Smoke and Mirrors Hashish Lounge closed its door on April 4. It was the primary of two state-sanctioned hashish consumption lounges to open in Nevada when it made its debut in February 2024.
“There should be more lounges out there especially if you’re in a legal space and are bringing money to the city. Then they would have the ability to give users a space to do such things. If you’re going to have places that are not private property at least have some places for people to use and partake,” vacationer Parish Maynard stated.
Dazed Consumption Lounge was the second lounge to open simply two months in a while Desert Inn Highway inside Planet 13 dispensary and is the final standing public marijuana consumption lounge at the moment.
Hashish lounges have been considered as an answer that would present vacationers larger entry to the Nevada hashish market that noticed greater than $829 million {dollars} in taxable gross sales in 2024.
“It would be nice to have a little lounge area to kick back, for outdoor areas. I do appreciate it if they would let us smoke at least for outdoor areas,” stated vacationer Nasir.
It isn’t clear when one other hashish lounge may open, however in line with the Nevada Hashish Compliance Board, 21 extra lounges have earned approval. One other 10 licenses have been put aside for potential lounge homeowners.
Nevada’s potential to capitalize on the hashish trade will depend upon continued collaboration between the Hashish Compliance Board, state legislators and aspiring lounge operators.
