Scott Vincent Borba built a prominent career in the cosmetics world, where he moved among influential figures and high-profile events. That chapter now stands in sharp contrast to the quieter vocation he has chosen. The Bay Area native is scheduled to be ordained a Catholic priest in Visalia by the Diocese of Fresno, marking a deliberate turn away from the environment he once inhabited.

A Career Built on Glamour and Visibility

Borba co-founded e.l.f. Cosmetics and spent years immersed in the fast-moving beauty sector. His professional life placed him in settings defined by public attention and constant activity. Those surroundings shaped daily routines that revolved around product launches, partnerships, and the demands of a competitive marketplace.

Over time, he came to view that period through a different lens. Borba has described his years in the industry as marked by excess and pride. The reflection points to a personal reassessment of priorities that extended beyond professional achievements.

The Decision to Pursue Ordination

Preparation for the priesthood requires years of study, discernment, and formation within the Church. Borba has followed that structured process, culminating in his upcoming ordination. The step represents a full commitment to a role centered on pastoral care and spiritual leadership rather than commercial success.

Such transitions remain uncommon within the Catholic Church. Most priests enter seminary earlier in life, often after different educational or vocational paths. Borba’s background in business and consumer products sets his journey apart from the typical route.

What the Ordination Means in Context

The ceremony in Visalia will formalize Borba’s new standing within the Diocese of Fresno. Once ordained, he will assume responsibilities that include celebrating Mass, administering sacraments, and supporting parishioners in their faith lives. The move places him in service to communities across central California.

Observers note that individuals with established careers sometimes explore religious vocations later in life. Borba’s case illustrates how personal conviction can redirect even a highly visible professional trajectory. The outcome underscores the individual nature of such choices within the broader Church.

Looking Ahead After Ordination

Following the ceremony, Borba will begin his ministry under the guidance of the Diocese of Fresno. His prior experience in a public-facing industry may offer unique perspectives when engaging with diverse groups. The Church has long welcomed varied backgrounds among its clergy.

This shift highlights how personal reevaluation can lead to lasting change. Borba’s story shows one path from commercial achievement toward a life oriented around faith and community service. The coming months will reveal how that new chapter unfolds in practice.
