Police examine 2 lethal Las Vegas crashes; intersection reopens

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police are investigating two lethal crashes involving pedestrians.

The primary crash was reported within the northeast valley simply earlier than 11 p.m. close to Nellis and Lake Mead Boulevards. In response to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, a Honda sedan touring northbound on Nellis towards Kell Lane struck a person within the roadway, killing them.

In response to a launch, the sedan was street-racing, or “engaged in an unlawful speed contest,” with an unknown white car.

The sedan, pushed by 25-year-old Duglas Esteban-Chacon, hit the person strolling in an unmarked/implied crosswalk, projecting him ahead and onto the roadway. The collision resulted within the dismemberment of the person’s legs.

The second lethal crash was reported round 2:20 a.m. and concerned a hit-and-run driver who was taken into custody, in accordance with police.
