Sisolak rematch with Lombardo? Former governor tells New York Instances he's contemplating it

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Former Gov. Steve Sisolak is contemplating difficult Gov. Joe Lombardo in 2026, based on a report from the New York Instances.

The Democrat, the one incumbent to lose a governor’s seat to a Republican within the 2022 midterm elections, is 71 now and stated he is trying into coming into the race.

“We’re going to wait and see what happens as we go through the next few months of the Legislature. I’m not ruling it out — I’m looking into it. I’ve been encouraged by a lot of people to run again, and I’m considering it,” Sisolak advised a New York Instances reporter. He stated he has been involved with a polling group about his probabilities in a major and within the basic election.

A Sisolak run would doubtless arrange a major match towards Nevada Lawyer Normal Aaron Ford.

Republicans reacted Friday to the report.

“When it comes to corrupt politicians who want to make us more woke, the Nevada Democrat Party seems to have an embarrassment of riches these days,” Higher Nevada PAC spokesman John Burke stated. “Whether it’s Steve Sisolak or Aaron Ford, Nevada Democrats have nothing to offer our state but failed policies and corruption. Nevadans support Governor Lombardo’s common sense leadership, that’s why they’ll vote for him again in 2026.”

8 Information Now has reached out to Sisolak for remark.

Sisolak’s loss to Lombardo was largely attributed to voters blaming him for stretching out the financial affect of COVID.

“Our priorities were saving people’s lives, and that’s what we did. I wouldn’t go back on that. We lost over 10,000 Nevadans to Covid. I didn’t consider re-election when I made those decisions,” Sisolak advised the Instances.

Sisolak cited Lombardo’s vetoes within the 2023 legislative session — 75 in all — and warned that financial fallout from President Donald Trump’s choices had been going to price jobs in Nevada, the place tourism is the lifeblood of the economic system.
