What's Cool At Faculty? – Taking literacy on the street with the CCSD Guide Bus

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – If the children cannot come to the books, the books can come to the children.

It is the Clark County Faculty District’s “Book Bus.”

Sunnylee Cooper, a younger pupil at Helen Marie Stewart Elementary had by no means seen something prefer it:

“I’ve only seen yellow buses. This is the only colorful one that I’ve ever seen.”

A bit of over a 12 months in the past it *was* a yellow bus. In an entire makeover, all of the seats have been taken out and changed by rows and rows of books.

Scholar Marlee Moten says it could not be any easier:

“It’s where you get on a bus and then you pick books.”

Faculty Librarian Kelly Halland says her work is necessary, serving to children try books to take dwelling:

“They come to the library weekly to do that, but then these books they get to keep. Some of them have already asked me: ‘Do I have to return them to you?’ I say, “No. They’re yours to keep forever.’”

Sunnylee confirmed off his decisions:

“I picked these two books because I want to learn about pollen and giraffes.”
